Dr. Bhimrao Ramji Ambedkar, also known as Babasaheb Ambedkar, was a prominent Indian jurist, economist, and social reformer who worked tirelessly for the rights of the oppressed and marginalized sections of society. Born on April 14, 1891, in Mhow, Madhya Pradesh, Ambedkar was born into a family belonging to the Mahar caste, which was considered untouchable at that time. Despite facing immense social discrimination and prejudice, Ambedkar managed to excel academically and earned a law degree from the University of Bombay, becoming the first person from his community to do so.
